    Uses Notes:

Great in containers and landscapes. Can be used as a cut flower where it is best used in shorter vessels.

    Maintenance Notes:

Pentas is best grown in good, moist soil, but it can tolerate poorer soils as well. They prefer a pH close to 7, so consider amending soil with pelletized lime if planting in an area with highly acidic soil. They are quite heat tolerant. An application of controlled release fertilizer at planting should be sufficient, but an additional application in mid-summer will help the plants thrive into Fall.

    • These are so beautiful and vibrant! I wanted to start keeping some plants indoors, and bought these to try figuring they could live on my patio if they didn't like being inside. They have made it through me figuring out optimal watering habits and varying sun exposure. They weren't looking as happy as I wanted on my patio (which is really only part sun at best), but I moved them inside once my grow light came in and they have begun to thrive! The colors are rich. My white grow light is set to run 12 hours a day, which was the first time length I tried, and they have grown up, had increased blooms, and color improvement. Would highly recommend. As long as you can get them plenty of light, they are excellent!

    • Last year I grew traditional red pentas for the first time with good success. My garden center had the sunstars from proven winners this year and from watching garden answer I'm happy to purchase and try out more proven winners products. I bought three colors, 2 pinks and a red. They were destined to go in my messy and neglected butterfly garden. I used soil from my garden (not the best) and honestly was not consistent with water at first. The red penta seems more vigorous and has consistently bloomed through my abuse. The pinks are still alive, but not blooming as consistent. Not their fault, but I think it's worth mentioning.
