I love how wild and delicate this looks. Great spiller for pots. Second year I have bought these. First year, I place on back porch with little to no sun. They seemed to only flower when they get a lot of sun. This year, they have a sunny spot and have flowered nonstop.

This Texas primrose plant, which was derived from a native Texan species, has proven in trials to thrive in hot, arid, sunny conditions and is among the most reliable drought tolerant annual flowers for challenging climates.
Even in 100°F weather, established plants only need watering every few days. Additional trials have also revealed its versatility and merit in warm, humid climates, making this Texas primrose plant one of the best annuals that everyone can grow well. It is ideal for growing in containers and landscapes where radiant yellow primrose flowers cover the finely textured foliage while attracting beneficial pollinators all season. These bright blooms also provide yellow flowers for sunny gardens, adding color and resilience in hot conditions.

It is a very heat tolerant flowering plant material and performs exceptionally well among drought tolerant annual flowers in the landscapes. This radiant blooms create cheerful yellow flowers for sunny gardens, especially in hot regions where many plants struggle.
Maintenance Notes:Plant in containers or well-drained landscape beds. Once plants are established in the landscape, this Texas primrose plants shouldn't need much care. The best performance is provided by soil kept on the dry side. Overwatering is the most likely problem you'll have with these plants, which naturally perform like many drought tolerant annual flowers.
Do not treat them too well and they'll be happy campers. This is not a heat tolerant flowering plant that needs a lot of plant food. For plants in the landscape a dose of controlled release plant food at planting will usually be sufficient. If you live in a climate with a very long summer, reapplying after 3 or 4 months may be beneficial.
For plants in containers, a dose of controlled release plant food at planting time is also recommended. However, reapplication of plant food is more likely to be needed in containers. Monitor your plant and reapply if the plant looks to be tired or if the foliage seems too light.
A water soluble plant food can add instant energy if you notice that your plants seem to be struggling. A water soluble plant food application to quickly increase energy, followed by a controlled release application of plant food will keep your plants happy for months and support more yellow primrose flowers.
If your planting gets a bit open or straggly looking, you can use a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears to trim it back. Look to take no more than 1/3 the volume of the plant. I usually follow a trim, with an application of water soluble plant food. The plant food/trim combination will stimulate new growth and branching and after a week or two to recover will result in a better branched and more floriferous plant with more yellow primrose flowers and bright yellow flowers for sunny gardens. In long season climates, trimming more than once can be beneficial.

Fantastic grower. Came up from last year on south side of house. Prolific bloomer. Easy keeper. Lovely lemon yellow bright color until frost! crawling form, will cover large area and spill in container. I am buying lots more this year from Stauffer's Of Kissel Hill in Lititz. Very versatile!!!

Found these at only 1 local grower. Picked up 2 and then a third. Slow start but now a very vibrant yellow. Unique flower and perfectly uniform yellow throughout. More of a trailer in my pots but gets to about 7-8 inches tall. Relatively delicate plant unlike verbena or lantana so handle with care. Not as prolific a grower as some of the Superbena but plays well with others and adds a perfect yellow contrast.
