LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. There are just so many great things! Purchased 5 of these from a local "blue" box store with a TON of new growth for a great price. They did have a few weeds growing in the container as well but were easily removed. The ones we purchased were in 3 gal containers and easily 3 ft. tall. They are full and foliage looks beautiful. Using 1 in a large flower bed and the other 4 to mix in with a property boarder. We intend to add Natchez Crepe Myrtles, and pink crepe myrtles & Camillias to tie in Pink crepe myrtles already on the property elsewhere. We also have Bobo Hydrangeas as well as a Rave hydrangea and blue big leaf. Can not wait to see these compliment their own seasons and enjoy hydrangeas all through the year! Zone 7b, all in full sun.

The myth, the legend, the plant: 'Limelight' hydrangea.
This unique panicle hydrangea revolutionized landscaping across North America. Huge, football-shaped flowers open in an elegant celadon green that looks fresh and clean in summer's heat. The blooms age to an array of pink, red, and burgundy which persists through frost for months of irresistible flowers. You can use 'Limelight' hydrangea just about any way you can imagine: as a showy flowering hedge, to screen off air conditioners, as an attention-getting specimen, in containers, flower gardens, or anywhere around your home. A long-time favorite of professional florists, it also makes an excellent cut flower, fresh or dried.
Top three reasons to grow 'Limelight' hydrangea:
- It's a time-tested classic that graces the yards of thousands of homes across North America
- Large flowers have a unique color that looks great with any style and color of house.
- Blooms every year, even in cold climates - winter doesn't faze it at all.

It likes full sun in cold climates, afternoon shade in warmer ones, but it does require well-drained soils that do not remain soggy for any amount of time.
To prune, simply cut back by one-third its total height every spring. If you wish, you can apply a granular fertilizer formulated for woody plants (like a rose fertilizer) at that time as well.

I am noticing in the daytime their leaves are wilted and sick looking. In the evening they look great. So, is this normal? The get morning sun and then filtered sun in afternoon.

Hi ProvenWinners I have planted Limelight Hydrangea which had larger, dark green leaves and did not turn very pink in fall/ winter, when I lived in Zone 3 area. I moved to zone 7 area and planted another limelight. in fall. In summer I found the leaves are not soft textured, narrow , not dark green and they are more shrub type with thin stems. I would like to know whether you have two varieties in Limelight Hydrangea. If so what are their latin names ? I have not planted little lime as the tag from nursery centers say it is limelight hydrangea particulate. Your clarification is much appreciated. Thank you.

I have this plant at the corner of my house tucked behind a boxwood. Our bathroom was renovated last winter and the contractor dumped a bucket of grout-water on top of this plant and a hybrid rose. The rose died this spring. This hydrangea was cut back to the ground in April and by September this plant grew 4 feet and bloomed its head off all summer. So happy it wasn't destroyed by the grout-water. We enjoyed them outside, inside and shared with friends and family in bouquets this past summer. The blooms were huge and beautiful.

My husband bought this Hydrangea for me last June, and this summer it is already 3-4 times the size it was when we first put it in. Buds came up early in Spring and filled the plant completely; no dead sections. Once bloomed, the flowers stay pristine looking for weeks and weeks on end as they 'fade' from an ivory-lime to a beautiful dusty rose hue. Considering how large the blooms get, it holds up to summer storms very well and though can get weighted down by the rain will spring back up almost instantly when dry again. For all of these reasons and more, this plant has become the standard by which I hold all others and is in my top 3 favorite plants of all time.

I planted one of these in front of a wall that I wanted to cover up and cover up it did! Every year it grew 1-2’ and all I do is provide a granular fertilizer every April! It’s now pushing 8’ and huge clusters of white flowers are covered all of the plant! Highly recommend and it makes a great cut flower! Dry the flowers for wreaths and holiday decorations too!

I have a five-year-old Proven Winners Limelight that grew to be over 5 feet tall and wide and was covered in many blooms every year beginning in late July. Sadly, plumbers dug it up in November in order to bury a new sewer line. I never got it planted as we had an early hard frost and much snow. I expected it to die because it was sitting bare-root, on top of the ground, with just a shovel or two of leaves over its roots for 4 months during an almost record-cold winter! I replanted it in April, cut it down to 3 ft to stimulate root growth, then crossed my fingers. Well, it's doing just fine and filling in nicely! I know Limelight to be a very late bloomer so I don't expect to see flowers until later this summer. What a tough plant! Proven Winners are super hearty, very healthy and extremely beautiful plants. With these hydrangeas in the right location, with the right soil, the right amount of sun and moisture, I look forward to enjoying my Proven Winners for many years to come! I love hydrangeas because they really perform well in the garden in late summer/fall when many other garden plants are looking worn out. I love my Cityline Paris and Limelight hydrangeas so much, I went out last week and bought some more!

Absolutely love these Limelights!!! Easy to care for, gorgeous, massive blooms, breathtaking when in full bloom! They tolerate the sun very well and are very hardy. Easy to prune and care for in the spring.
