Professional Growing Information I planted three of the Chrysocephalum in a pot with other plants. They grew quickly and looked nice for a few weeks, and then one by one they all died. The only reason I can think of is that the amount of water I put on for the other plants was perhaps too much for them. It's too bad. They were nice while they lasted.

Maintenance Notes:Deadheading not necessary for continuous bloom. Plants will "bury their dead" (new flowers will quickly cover old flowers) so no deadheading necessary.
This is the perfect plant for almost all gardens. They don't just tolerate heat - they love it, yet they can withstand surprisingly cold temperatures also. One year mine were blooming right up until a December storm encased them in ice. The one thing they do not like is the soil staying too wet. They are quite drought tolerant though, what we call "an end of the hose plant," which simply means they will thrive even if you don't add additional water through the summer. If they start looking tired during the summer, a trim back can help them quickly bounce back into top form. In containers regular fertilization will be helpful, but in the landscape they will tolerate poor soils and low fertility. However, a dose of slow-release fertilizer or some compost added at the time of planting would be helpful.
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.

Are you looking for a plant for that hot dry part of your yard that never seems to get enough water? Flambé Chrysocephalum love heat and dry conditions and flower continuously through the summer. Small round golden-orange flowers cover the plants. Give them air circulation and bright sun. they can be planted at any time of year except winter in north Florida.

tolerant to 30F with minimal damage, so good for extending season both in spring and in fall. Somewhat salt tolerant.Goes great with Coleus Royal Glissade and any annuals or perennials where silver foliage can act as an accent. Best in bright full sun conditions!

AMAZING is the only word to describe this beauty. Ooh, what joy it has given me with its happy, carefree appearance & no maintenance on my part. It was new to me this year & a MUST HAVE for 2022 & the future. It just brightens my day to enjoy it on the patio mixed with marigolds & verbena!!! THANKS for always having plants I can count on doing as 'promised'.

First time buyer in 2016...plant is very hard to find locally! No flowers on it when purchased. First 2 weeks just foliage and barely grew. Fast forward to mid July and this plant is a top performer. Hundreds of unique flowers adorn this plant and they stay in bloom a long time. Attractive lighter colored foliage adds color variance. Easy to care for but keep an eye on it during hot days as it needs a little more water than such tough guys as lantana and verbena. Still this is one of the most unusual plants in my garden and a pleasant surprise, especially after the slow start. Much more given to spreading/filling versus mounding, so definitely recommend placing in large pot with at least 2 other sturdy plants. Looks especially good against dark blues/purples and reds to accent the yellow. I will definitely buy this again in 2017...IF I can find it!

great in my zone 9 central valley location. took the over 100 heat in summer and survive the winter without wilt. Flowered continually through out the summer.

Have grown this plant for two years in pots and in the ground ... excellent in both situations. Thrives in heat and drought but also does beautifully during rainy periods when it gets cooler as it does here. Wonderful as a cut flower, too!

It is doing very well as an underplanting for miniature tree roses. It has been in bloom since I planted it. I cut some flowers and used them in a miniature arrangement for a flower show and won a blue ribbon!
