Bought this plant for the outstanding blue color. Left in it’s container and in part shade for a week it was stunning. Once I transferred it to a deck planter and put it in full sun the flowers started turning white and dulled the overall look. I am going to move it back to the shade and fertilize to see if that helps. I’ve only had it about ten days, surprised at the color change.

Maintenance Notes:Self cleaning, no deadheading necessary. Laguna does not like "wet feet". Be sure that you do not keep the soil wet. Allow the soil surface to dry before watering again.
These newer types of Lobelia are much more heat tolerant than past plants. They will reliably bloom in warm temperatures unless night temperatures stay in the upper 70's or above. If you experience an extended time period with high night temperatures the plants may flush out of bloom, however, the plants themselves should continue to look good. If the plants do go out of flower using a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears to give the plants a "haircut" - a slight overall trim - should encourage additional branching. Additional branching will result in increased flower power once the plants begin blooming again after night temperatures fall.
The plants may be trimmed back at anytime if you feel they could use it.
A yearly application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.
Bred to take the summer heat better than typical lobelias, Laguna™ varieties are compact yet full, semi-upright plants covered in true blue or white, self-cleaning blossoms. Choose which color you prefer when you buy. They are ideal low maintenance plants for hanging baskets, window boxes, combination containers, and landscapes.
A compact, 8 - 10 inch tall annual (except in zones 9-11) for full sun to part shade, an abundance of blooms that never need deadheading and a mounding, trailing habit that's perfect for landscapes and all types of containers. Ain't progress wonderful?

I've had the Laguna sky blue come back for the 3rd year. The back of the plastic identifier claims it's "mounded". Mine is crawling all over the garden, why is it not mounding? Can I force it into a mound?

Purchased in early May 2016 and placed in hanging basket by itself. Planted in quality potting mix, watered daily, fertilized weekly. Even watered 2X daily starting July 1. As true a blue annual that one can find. Looked stunning in May and throughout June, when temps were cooler and rain plentiful. Neighbors even took notice. Now here it is July 20 and the poor fella appears to be on the way out. Browning, brittle and just plain burnt out I suppose. The plant receives 3 hours mostly morning sun and no sun after about 1PM. Contrast that with 2 lobelia (no PW varieties) that get more than 4 hours direct afternoon sun and are in excellent shape. I water/fertilize them same as I do the PW Laguna; one of the 2 is in a hanging basket just like the Laguna. I love the PW plants, especially their verbena and lantana offerings. Not sure their lobelia are ready for the bigs yet... Recommend for their stunning color but not their durability.

My Summer Life will not be complete unless I find Proven Winners sky blue lobelia to pot in a hanging plantar under my crabapple tree out front. Last year it was a show stopper, believe me. Everyone stopped to comment as I combined it with purple supertunias and had a darling white 2 story birdhouse next to the plants. Wow!

Beautiful plant

Although this was listed as a summer bloomer, I had outstanding blooms from May right through October (zone 5b). I have *never* had a lobelia perform as well as this one. I cannot recommend it more highly!

Looked great at first, but now there are very few blooms and the plant looks shabby with all the dead flowers. The color of the flowers is stunning. I will try giving it a "hair cut" to see if it perks up.
