I have had this now for 4 years, the first one I planted died, so I replaced it. It is a much slower grower than my other hostas so much so that others are taking over their space and filling in, making this one look lonely. I will have to move it to a different location, I have doubts that it will get large. I have Blue Angel, Elegans, Sum and Substance and in that same 4 years they have all gotten huge!, and were just small quart starts when I planted them. Mine also has more of a creamy/yellowish center, it really isn't white like many photos I've seen. My Hudson Bay is planted on the north side of my house and never gets any sun directly on it, it is always in full shade, but has bright light. It is planted in somewhat heavy soil, but so are the others there. I would not choose this hosta again. If at some point it dies on me, I won't replace it.

This showy hosta forms a large mound of attractive tricolor leaves of heavy substance. The wide, bright blue margin, apple green jetting, and creamy white center will set this variety apart all season long.
An improvement over its parent, 'Eskimo Pie', this new sport is a much showier, larger specimen and a stronger grower overall. The wider, brighter blue margin and apple green jetting contrast nicely with the creamy white center all season long. The leaves are of heavy substance, exhibiting good slug resistance in the landscape. This plant forms a large mound of attractive foliage topped with near-white flowers on white scapes in early summer.

This variety has a stately, masculine quality. The intensity of the green sets off the creamy white in a dramatic way. If I had to make room in my hosta bed almost every other variety would go before I would part with "Hudson Bay".
